YOU'VE TAKEN SCIENCE OF READING CLASSES,

NOW WHAT?

THAT IS THE QUESTION THAT DESERVES AN ANSWER.

Across the country, most teachers and leaders have taken some form of Science of Reading (SoR) training. They've learned the why. They've studied the research. They've committed to improving instruction.

But after the course ends, the real questions begin:

🔍 What do we do with the overflowing boxes of curricula? How do we get the most out of our materials?

🔍 What do we do with all these new assessments?

🔍 What do we do to reduce the pressure on our intervention systems?

🔍 How do we keep students from getting stuck in 3rd grade—or forced into summer school—under new retention laws?

At Educate, our aim is to turn your chaos into confidence.

We support schools and districts with practical, research-aligned Tier 1 systems that answer the questions teachers and leaders are asking right now:

âś… How do we actually teach reading and writing together each day?

âś… How do we organize our time, tools, and people in a way that makes sense?

âś… How do we get better outcomes without burning out our teachers?

✅ How do we use SoR-aligned content inside of Educate’s effective, grade-level-specific Tier 1 frameworks©?

✅ How do we keep students out of intervention—and keep learning whole group?

At Educate, we ANSWER the “Now What?”

Science of Reading classes build background knowledge.
Educate builds doable, practical, effective systems—centering the power of teaching, leading, and growing literate communities, together.

We help you make Tier 1 instruction doable, diagnostic, engaging, and effective—so your students can read, write, and spell on grade level… and your teachers can finally teach without chaos.

Let’s get to work.

TESTIMONIAL

Principal Boucher, MN

Educate’s K–5 Tier 1 Empower Hour© has demonstrably revolutionized literacy instruction, profoundly impacting student achievement and optimizing teacher planning and instructional practices at the elementary school where I serve as principal.

For decades, educators, including myself have grappled with stagnant or declining student proficiency and achievement. This challenge was particularly pronounced in settings with diverse student populations facing trauma, shelter insecurity, or language needs, where teachers diligently worked but saw limited impact on student achievement, especially in reading, much like my school.

I was inspired by the Science of Reading and Dr. Staci Bain's insightful questions regarding teacher effort versus results, and the practical application of new training. In the summer of 2024, a select group of teachers from my elementary school received training in Dr. Bain's Empower Hour K-5 Frameworks©, finding a clear direction for instruction that promised to boost literacy for all students.

The implementation of Empower Hour© rapidly expanded, with 20 out of 25 teachers completing Educate's Tier 1 Roadmap Courses© and integrating their specific grade-level framework into their K-5 classrooms by January 2025. The results were immediate and transformative:

  • Student Achievement: There was an immediate increase in student engagement in literacy and overall student achievement. Notably, for the first time in recent school history, over 70% of kindergarten and first-grade students were reading at grade level. By spring 2025, 100% of implementing teachers reported an increase in students' rigor and literacy production across reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Teacher Planning and Instruction: Teachers reported spending less time on planning once the framework was established, indicating a streamlined and more efficient planning process. The structured nature of Empower Hour© has fundamentally transformed literacy instruction, providing a research-based approach that ensures all students have the best opportunity for literacy success.

This profound impact underscores the efficacy of Empower Hour© as a structured, research-based approach to fostering literacy success and empowering educators. I am externally grateful to Dr. Bain for her teacher friendly, research based framework that has impacted my school in a way nothing else has.
